After a lengthy open consultation and discussion process to improve and evolve LACIGF, in July 2017, the Program Committee (a body consisting of Government, Technical Community, Private Sector, and Civil Society representatives) adopted the LACIGF Bylaws, a document that includes definitions relating to its scope, participation, processes, and structures.
Throughout its editions, the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Governance Forum, LACIGF, has become a true regional meeting place for multisectoral policy dialogue in which actors from governments, the private sector, the technical community, academia and civil society organizations present and discuss their perspectives.
Over the years, the region has made progress in understanding the current challenges of Internet governance, creating its own space for debate and the identification of regional priorities, while significantly increasing the region’s participation in and contribution to the debates of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

Youth have begun to play a more prominent role in Internet Governance, raising their voice in various forums and processes, and bringing their message to the rest of the community. We have designed a third edition of the Open Course, which will be in Spanish and completely free, this time open to all and to prepare people who wish to learn about the topics, especially those who are newcomers to the Internet Governance ecosystem.
